Sec sat cradling the limp body of her fallen foe. Both had nearly died in the preceding battle, they sat at the bottom of a crater created during the fight, both alive but unmoving. First was unconscious, but Sec was in a state somewhere between wake and dream, a state she needed to maintain to traverse his psyche.

Echo, R.o.b., Dica and Lox stood not far off, vigilantly watching for any unwelcome guests. It was unlikely that any cultists remained nearby, and dune rats, hounds or any other predators were uncommon in this part of the waste, but they wouldn’t take any chances, Sec wouldn’t be able to defend herself in this state and this might be the best and possibly only chance they had to get First away from the cultists.
